NFSM Special Edition: Cleaning & Hygiene
Use these five tips in your kitchen (whether you're a restaurateur or a home cook) to prevent cross-contamination, starring Chef Greg Beachey and Kendall College's Chef Chris Koetke.
“While we celebrate National Food Safety Month each September, food safety is a priority year-round,” said Greg Beachey, senior academic relations and program manager with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. "Whether cooking at home or in a professional foodservice kitchen, basic principles like cleaning and sanitizing should be part of everyone’s food safety knowledge base.”
Be Safe, Don’t Cross-Contaminate
National Food Safety Month is an annual campaign to heighten the awareness about the importance of food safety education. Each year, we offer training activities, posters, and more. The National Restaurant Association encourages restaurant and foodservice operators to begin planning for the 18th annual National Food Safety Month. This month-long campaign is held every September and focuses on the importance of food safety education for the restaurant and foodservice industry, while raising the awareness of the industry's commitment to food safety.
The free National Food Safety Month materials are based on the ServSafe® food safety training and certification program. The materials communicate concepts clearly and quickly to employees, and activities can be completed in less than 10 minutes.
